standard form

• standard form has two definitions,
each depending on which country you are in.

United Kingdom and countries using UK conventions
• standard form is another name for scientific notation,
i.e. 876 = 8.76 x 10².

United States and countries using US conventions
• standard form is the usual way of writing numbers in decimal notation, i.e.
standard form = 876, expanded form = 800 + 70 + 6,
written form = eight hundred seventy six.
